Dr. Groh asked to review study for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery

June 29, 2015:Orthopaedic surgeon Andrew Green, MD the chief of shoulder surgery and assistant editor at the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (jbjs.org—the top rated impact journal of orthopedic surgery) asked Dr. Groh to review a scientific study for potential publication. The study reviewed complication rates of shoulder fracture fixation from a large national data base and compared results with several different techniques. Although the study was of interest, there were severe flaws in the study methodology. Dr. Groh recommended the study not be published and the editors of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery agreed.

Dr. Groh re-appointed to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Shoulder and Elbow Program Committee

Asheville orthopaedic surgeon Gordon I. Groh, MD was reappointed to the Shoulder and Elbow Program Committee for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). Dr. Groh has served in this capacity during the past two years. As his first task, Dr. Groh will lead the evaluation of scientific proposals submitted to the AAOS. The top rated manuscripts will be slated for presentation at the 2016 AAOS annual meeting in Orlando, FL. Dr. Groh will chair a scientific session at the meeting.

Dr. Groh authors commentary article for Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery

Asheville orthopaedic surgeon Gordon I. Dr. Groh leads Project Design Meeting for development of new Shoulder Replacement.

Asheville orthopaedic surgeon Gordon I. Groh, MD lead a Web Ex teleconference as the chief project designer tasked with development of a new shoulder glenoid replacement. Dr. Groh leads a team of surgeon designers and engineers. The team evaluated potential designs and targeted additional meetings including an anatomic demonstration. The new design centers on a novel fixation technique with a paucity of cement. The new glenoid prosthesis is slated for production in 2016.
