Dr. Groh Recertifies in Clinical Research

July 28, 2015: Asheville orthopaedic surgeon Gordon I. Groh, MD completed recertification and reexamination in clinical research. The course is sponsored by the University of Florida. Completion of 15 educational modules coupled with a unit examination is required for recertification. Dr. Groh is the chief clinical investigator for two national, prospective, randomized studies investigating the efficacy of should replacements and elbow replacements. In addition, Dr. Groh has ongoing research and funding applications regarding rotator cuff tears and revision reverse shoulder arthroplasty.

Dr. Groh asked to Review Second Round of Scientific Manuscripts for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Meeting

July 26, 2015:Asheville orthopaedic surgeon Gordon I. Groh, MD was reappointed to the Shoulder and Elbow Program Committee for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS). Dr. Groh has served in this capacity during the past two years. As his next task, Dr. Groh will lead the evaluation of scientific proposals submitted to the AAOS. This second round of manuscripts will be evaluated for their suitability of inclusion on the final program. The top rated manuscripts will be slated for presentation at the 2016 AAOS annual meeting in Orlando, FL. Dr. Groh will chair a scientific session at the meeting.

Dr. Groh Signs Product Development Agreement with ConMed/Liventech

July 26, 2015:Asheville orthopaedic surgeon Gordon I. Groh, MD signed a product development agreement with Conmed, based in Tampa, Fl. Dr. Groh has developed unique intellectual property related to soft tissue reattachment in the shoulder. Dr. Groh has been selected as the Chief Designer for the design team.

Dr. Groh Nominated to Serve as Examiner for the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery

Asheville orthopedic surgeon Gordon I. Groh, MD has been selected by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) to serve as an examiner in the board certification process which all orthopedic surgeons in the United States must participate. Dr. Groh will examine both orthopedic surgeons in practice as well as those who have recently completed training. The examination is set to be held over 5 days in Chicago with Dr. Groh asked to participate based on his unique position in shoulder surgery and hand surgery.

Dr. Groh Selected as Local Chairman for International Shoulder Surgeons Meeting

July 20, 2015: The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons www.ases-assn.org will hold their 24th closed international meeting in Asheville. The meeting, open only to American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons will be hosted at the Grove Park Inn. Dr. Groh was recommended to serve as a local host for the meeting by the current President of the society. Dr. Groh was invited into membership of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons based on his record of excellence in shoulder surgery, teaching, research and training. He was then promoted from associate membership to full membership based on his continuing record of excellence in these areas. Dr. Groh asked to present two hour Instructional Course Lecture at the 2016 American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Meeting

July 3, 2015: Asheville orthopaedic surgeon Gordon I. Groh, MD,has developed a number of lecture series for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. (AAOS). His latest lecture entitled “All Things Clavicle: From the Acromioclavicular joint to the Sternoclavicular Joint and all points In between” was reviewed by the AAOS. The paid attendance for the course as well as the reviews from the audience was both extremely strong. Dr. Groh has been asked to repeat the course and will utilize his friends and colleagues from Harvard, Duke and the University of Florida as additional faculty. Dr. Groh is an adjunct Professor with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Dr. Groh asked to lead Surgical Observation Site

July 1, 2015:The DJO Global Institute has developed a program called the Customized Advanced Surgeon Education (CASE) Program. The CASE Program offers surgeons the ability to enhance their surgical skills knowledge within a customized format through a better understanding of the surgeon’s preferences. The DJO Global Institute identifies the reference center/ location that best compliments the surgeon’s requests, providing for a personalized visitation experience.
